Saluting Kitzel

Dear Editor:

As a long time resident of Pagosa Springs, I would like to tell you about my friend and vet of over 21 years, Dr. Kitzel Farrah. Many of you know Kitzel and her incredible staff, Amy, Shanna, Michelle, and Nita.

I have had many dogs, horses, rabbits, and cats, numbering more than 30 pets over the years, and Kitzel has been my guardian angel on more than one occasion.

In the past year, I have had to lay to rest my loving golden retriever of 15 years, Christopher, my 31 year old Tennessee Walker, Tributes Last Chance aka Little Joe, and my barn cat, Jinxie. Kitzel was there for me every step of the way. Not only did she take care of these animals, she gave me the emotional support I needed as a loving animal owner. Her professionalism and advice are only surpassed by her kindness. She will treat an animal only to the point where it is futile. With her counseling, I was able to move through the loss of my beloved animals.

Of late, my yellow lab, Nilla, has a canine lymphoma. I rescued Nilla and she has been my protector and companion for 6 years on my ranch. I want to publicly thank Dr. Farrah for assigning a charitable donation she received to Nilla for her treatment. Because of the gift I was able to defer half the cost of Nilla’s therapy. Her generosity is overwhelming.

I write because Kitzel has been a partner in the care of my animals. She is not only a highly qualified vet but I also consider her a true friend. Pagosa Springs is fortunate to have a veterinarian of this caliber. Animal lovers everywhere, please join me in saluting Kitzel Farrah!

Janice, I am SO happy for you that you have been blessed to have, not only a wonderful, kind and caring veterinarian for all your critters over the years, but also a compassionate and true friend!! I’m sorry I never got to meet Kitzel when I lived in Pagosa Springs but I know she has always come through for you and your beloved pets. I will keep you and Nilla in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this battle with her. It’s amazing that Kitzel was so kind and generous to assign a donation for her treatment…what an honorable thing to do!!
