Special to The PREVIEW
All the way from Belfast, Northern Ireland, internationally recognized musician Robin Mark will perform here in Pagosa Springs.
Mark your calendar, invite a friend and plan on being at Centerpoint Church this Sunday, June 23, at 6 p.m.
Known for his music with a Celtic flavor, Mark is a singer/songwriter enjoyed by young and old alike. With the release of his 1995 song “Days of Elijah,” Mark set the ball rolling for a career far beyond that of worship leader in his home church in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Songs that followed that early release include, “Take Us to the River” and “Heaven’s Gates,” to name just a few.
Mark is a winner of the Gospel Music Association’s International Award and was recognized in 2008 as Worship Artist of the Year at a UK Radio Awards ceremony.
He continues to serve in the role of emeritus director of worship at Christian Fellowship Church in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He also is the author of the book, “Warrior Poets of the 21st Century,” which charts a personal and Biblical journey through worship to underline the importance of a heart of worship in our lives as Christians.
This Sunday evening, Robin Mark will be joined by an ensemble of local musicians including Truett Forrest on bass, Drew Feinhals on drums, Brad VanWormer on percussion, Perry Schlojin on keys, Sheila Lane on flute and whistles, and Justin Cowan on the electric guitar. Denise Chaney, Kathy Faber and Tiffany Brunson will be vocalists.
Opening for Mark will be local musicians Jason Rose and Denise Chaney. Jason and Denise were recently chosen by the South Fork Music Association to compete in a singer/songwriter competition. They will be performing some of their originals as well as praise music.
Tickets will not be sold for this concert, however, a “love offering” will be taken that evening.
Centerpoint Church is located at 2750 Cornerstone Drive. The date is Sunday, June 23. The concert starts at 6 p.m., and you won’t want to be late.
