Fighting cancer is a noble cause that is easy to rally around and one that many people are willing to support. We are asking you — the businesses and individuals in our community — to help support our efforts here in the Relay for Life of Archuleta County.

We still need and welcome sponsors for our event — businesses and individuals who are willing to make a gift of money to help underwrite such things as tables, chairs, a sound system and supplies of all sorts.

We also need Friends of The Relay who give a tangible donation in the form of food, equipment or entertainment. If you think you can help, further information may be obtained from the following:

  • Entertainment — Will Spears at will@kwuf.com or 264-5983.
  • Food/beverage — Dick Babillis at blueskies@frontier.net or 731-9263.
  • Sponsorships — Stan Zuege at stan@gallespoperties.com or 903-9314.
  • General chair — Rod Proffitt at planatlaw@yahoo.com or 903-9314.

For more than 65 years, the American Cancer Society has been finding answers that save lives —from changes in lifestyle to new approaches in therapies and changing cancer patients’ quality of life. No single, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization in the U.S. has invested more to find the causes and cures for cancer.

While the American Cancer Society is making progress toward a world without cancer, only with your fundraising efforts and dedication can we finish the fight against this disease. We need your sponsorship.

With your help, we are not fighting just one type of cancer — we are fighting for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. Each person who shares the Relay for Life experience can take pride in knowing that they are creating a world where this disease will no long threaten our loved ones or rob another person of a birthday.

The Relay will be held this year on Friday, June 20, at Golden Peaks Stadium at Pagosa Springs High School. Opening ceremonies begin at 6 p.m.
