Relay for Life

Dear Editor:

Relay For Life has scheduled the Kick-Off to this year’s event for March 25th at the Pagosa Lakes Property Owner’s Association Administration Building. We will have refreshments available from 6 PM-8 PM so join us, sign up for a team, and help us plan this year’s Relay, which will be held on June 20th.

This is the fourth anniversary of my wife, Susan’s death on March 28, 2010. Cancer was the cause. Her death prompted me to join the American Cancer Society’s biggest annual fundraising event — Relay For Life. This year, my motivation is Tim Jennings who had a relapse in his fight against leukemia last fall, and is now recovering from a bone marrow transplant. Tim is a great guy, every involved in making Pagosa a better place. He is your neighbor and could be your friend. Join us, and help us make it possible for more people to enjoy more birthdays.

Although a lot of work goes into planning these events — it’s well worth it. We are looking for people to help out with this year’s event; everything from bookkeeping to entertainment. If you can’t help us, please plan on participating the day of the event. Last year, we had nineteen (19) teams, and they are all looking for people to walk over-night for about an hour; it’s not much to give, just a little time and effort. Can’t find a team to join, then start your own.

Please go to for more information, and then plan on being there for the Kick-Off on March 25th. Thanks.
