Relay For Life of Archuleta County is just around the corner, and organizers would like to invite the community to join them

The event will be held on Friday, June 21, at the Pagosa Springs High School track.

The night will begin with opening ceremonies at 6 p.m. and we are pleased to have Boy Scout Troop 807 present our color guard. Throughout the night, we will have a number of presentations and activities including High Country Square Dancers, live music, line dancers, Sozo Yoga and a luminaria ceremony.

This year, we would like to honor survivors and caregivers with a free dinner, beginning at 5 p.m., provided by Pagosa Springs Rotary Clubs. We are honored to have two very special guests join us to speak at the survivor dinner. Peg Crandall, author of “Caregivers: Angels Without Wings,” will share her story of how cancer has touched her life. Also, we are excited to have Carol Otis, one of our own Relayers and Colorado’s Hero of Hope, join us for the evening to share her inspiring story.

Our luminaria ceremony will be held at 9:30 p.m., and is a powerful ceremony that recognizes those whose lives have been touched by cancer. Luminaria bags will line the track, each light in memory or in honor of a person with cancer. Luminarias are available for purchase any time prior to the ceremony. If you are interested in purchasing a bag, you can do so for $10 at, or buy one at the event.

It is the organizers’ sincerest hope that the community will join us as we fight back against cancer at this event.

Preregistration is beginning now at If you would like to call to register, you can reach office staff at 247-1667. We will also register participants at the event from 4:30-6 p.m. If you are a survivor or caregiver, you can head directly to our survivor tent (blue and white) and we will have volunteers on hand to assist you with getting your T-shirt. All survivor T-shirts are purple and free of charge.

If you have any questions, e-mail, or call 247-1667.

We look forward to seeing a full track and celebrating at this incredible event.
