A public meeting regarding the feasibility of constructing a community recreation center in downtown Pagosa Springs will be held Monday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m. in the south conference room of the Ross Aragon Community Center.
The recreation center site is proposed near the current location of the sanitation treatment lagoons on South 5th Street; the lagoons are scheduled to be decommissioned and replaced with a pipeline farther to the south.
If constructed, the recreation center would be located directly across the street from Pagosa Springs High School baseball/softball complex and due south of Yamaguchi Park. Currently, the recreation center is estimated at approximately 44,000 square feet.
The Town of Pagosa Springs Recreation Department staff and citizens’ review committee will be coordinating the recreation center scoping meeting; the public is invited to share opinions and provide feedback on the potential cost, funding, design, location and programming associated with this endeavor.
For more information, contact the recreation office at 264-4151, Ext. 232.
