Proposal made for catch-and-release section in San Juan River

Town Tourism Committee member Larry Fisher, who also owns a local sporting goods store, has been working on a project that lives up to his last name — he has convinced the Pagosa Springs Town Council to draft a letter of support to Colorado Parks and Wildlife requesting a two-mile stretch of the San Juan River be designated as catch-and-release only.

As it stands now, the section of river through downtown Pagosa Springs has a two-fish bag limit and anglers are allowed to use both artificial lures and bait.
