Process begins to develop Chimney Rock management plan

Staff Writer

The US Forest Service held a Chimney Rock National Monument Management Plan open house last Tuesday, Nov. 5 at the fairgrounds building.

Although there was a short presentation, the focus of the open house was getting the public involved in the creation of the management plan, which has to be completed by Sept. 21, 2015. As such, Forest Service and Chimney Rock Interpretive Association staff and volunteers were available to answer questions and have discussions with visitors. Staff and volunteers were stationed at tables covering topics such as archaeology, geology, rangeland management, vegetation, and wildlife.
