Saturday, Feb. 4

Audubon. Snowshoe animal tracking at the Hershey Ranch. Jason Stuck will lead the Weminuche Audubon Society educational event. Registration will be at 9:30 a.m. at the ranch at the end of Snowball Road (C.R. 200), with the event to start at 10. This event is free and open to the public. Participants are expected to provide their own snowshoes, lunch, water and appropriate cold weather attire. No pets, please. For questions, contact WAS board member Mike Ward at 731-5576.

Baby and Toddler Time. 10-10:30 a.m. at Ruby Sisson Library. Archuleta County Veterans for Veterans. The group meets at the Buffalo Inn Restaurant, 164 N. Bible talk. A non-denominational Bible talk will be held at the Ross Aragon Community Center on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Women’s Club. The monthly meeting of the Pagosa Springs Women’s Club will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Nello’s Bistro.  The club meets the second Wednesday every month for lunch, socializing and a speaker pertinent to individual and community interests.  Visitors are always welcome.  If you would like to make a lunch reservation or have a question, contact Sharee Grazda at 731-0666.

Valentine’s dinner. Bring your sweetheart(s) or meet a sweetheart and celebrate Valentine’s Day a tad early, 5-7:30 p.m., Ross Aragon Community Center Dining Room, 451 Hot Springs Blvd. Enjoy a romantic setting while dining and listening to the soft piano tunes of Dennis Driscoll.  Spaghetti and meatballs, or vegetarian, Caesar salad, garlic roll and sherbet topped with a cookie.  $10 adults, $5 children 12 and under. Homemakers. Mountain View Homemakers meet at 11:30 a.m. in the Extension Center at the fairgrounds. A covered dish lunch will begin at noon, followed by a program by Sandy Artzberger, a hand therapist, who will talk to the group about “Healthy Hands and Bones.” Homemakers is open to all women; there are no dues or membership requirements. “Love Letters.” Thingamajig Theatre Company presents “Love Letters,” by A.R.Gurney, the story about unrequited love between two people whose relationship is through letter writing over 50 years. Joshua Aaron will lead a time of worship and share more about his ministry The cost of the concert is a love offering. Joshua Aaron is an enthusiastic Messianic worship leader from Pennsylvania bringing Jewish praise to Yeshua/Jesus. Box and Ball. Pagosa Destination Imagination’s second annual Box and Ball Indoor Soccer Tournament. Proceeds benefit Pagosa’s Destination Imagination teams. Pagosa Springs Middle School, both gyms. Coed tournament, 6 vs. 6, grades 5-6, 7-8, high school and adult. At least one girl must be on court at all times. $100 entry fee per team. Concessions, baked goods and Valentine’s goodies. Mardi Gras Casino Night. The annual event always promises, and delivers, an exceptionally exciting and fun night out. This year’s event will be held at the Pagosa Lakes Clubhouse from 6-10 p.m. Tickets are only $45 and can be purchased from Rotary Club members, at Exit Realty on Put Hill, or downtown at The Pagosa Springs SUN. Lego Club. 10:30-11:45 a.m. at Ruby Sisson Library. Fun with Lego’s for kids 6 through 13.  Bring your imagination…the LEGO’s are provided.  This month’s theme: Ships.

Garden club. High Mountain Garden Club will kick off the year at 10 a.m. in the Extension Building. Jim Miller will be the speaker. His opener is: “Pagosa abounds in treasures; some awaiting discovery just below the surface of our everyday lives, and some hiding quite effectively in plain sight. Allow me to share some of my favorites and challenge you to find others of your own.” There will be light refreshments and the program promises to be very informative.

Adult learners.  Are you ready to earn your bachelor’s degree?  Learn how at free informational sessions from Fort Lewis College.  Sessions will cover opportunities for adult learners at FLC and explain how to enroll and apply for financial aid.  Sessions are free and open to the public, and are held every Wednesday except for the second Wednesday of each month at the Durango Public Library from 6-7 p.m., in Program Room 3.  For more information, call 247-7670.

Republican Women. Archuleta County Republican Women will meet to hear Ryan Call, chairman of the State GOP talk about the history of women in the Republican Party and what is going on nationally in the GOP. ACRW of Pagosa Springs will also celebrate its ninth birthday. The meeting is from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Boss Hogg’s Restaurant. All are welcome.

Ed Center annual luncheon. The Pagosa community is invited to attend the 10th annual luncheon of the Archuleta County Education Center, which will be held on Leap Day, starting at 11:45 a.m. at The Pagosa Lodge.
