The ladies’ contributions will be combined with gift certificates from local restaurants and other generous gifts from Pagosa businesses for a silent auction at the 2013 Pine Cone Classic charity golf tournament July 9-10. Gillespie is chair of the event. Its beneficiary this year is LASSO, which helps local horses in need, provides equine-assisted therapy to those with special needs, and hosts the annual equine Special Olympics in Pagosa. This year’s golf tournament will attract up to 100 women from around the Four Corners.

The 2013 Pine Cone Classic charity golf tournament  will be held July 9 and 10.

Practice rounds available on Monday, July 8.

This is a ladies event only. Entry fee is $160 per person, $640 for a team.

It is a two-person Best Ball format; players must be minimum 18 years old. Handicap of 37 or over will play to a 36.

This charity event will benefit LASSO — the Large Animal Support Southwest Organization — dedicated to the survival, safety and humane treatment of all large animals through awareness and education.

LASSO is an all volunteer 501(c)(3) since 2002. This organization is designed to support the large animal community and their owners in need of assistance. Feed and care is available for animals when owners are faced with hardship. Large animals surrendered to LASSO are provided shelter, food and care until permanent homes are found.

The unwanted horses awaiting adoption find useful and productive lives at LASSO. The organization is the proud sponsor of the annual three-day Special Olympic horse camp. LASSO provides various equine assisted therapy and educational programs throughout the year to local school special needs children, horse interest groups and the general public. They can be reached at 264-0095.

A benefit concert, with free admission, will be held Tuesday, July 9 at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts. Doors open to the public at 6:30 p.m. A live band, One to One, features popular Motown hits. The concert starts at 7 and ends at 9.

For Information, contact Lynda Gillespie at 264-9220.
