A total of 84 skiers and snowboarders took to the slopes last Saturday to participate in one of the last fun races of the season at Wolf Creek Ski Area.
Skiers and boarders from Pagosa, Durango, Monte Vista, South Fork and elsewhere in Colorado competed alongside visitors from Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas and Kansas. The race even had a competitor from Qatar.
Pagosans fared well. Their results are posted below for the top finishers.
For girls ages 9-11, Cerenity Keating scored gold with a time of 33.23.
Annabelle Bowles also captured gold Saturday for girls 12-14 with a time of 23.24.
The Women’s 31-35 division saw Katie Vining take bronze with a time of 30.62.
Chantelle Jordan took gold for women 41-50 with a time of 22.46; Jordan had the fastest time of the day for the women’s races. Anita Bowles took bronze in the same division at 28.06.
For the boys ages 6-8, Andrew Bowles won gold at 26.51.
Nolan Kay took gold in the boys 9-11 division at 24.12 and Richard Fiedler took silver at 26.83.
Nathan Smith dominated the boys 12-14 division, taking gold with a time of 24.77.
For men ages 51-60, the top three spots went to Pagosa racers. Dean Sell took gold at 21.19, also setting the fastest time of the day for the men. Joe Jordan took silver at 21.53. Thomas Edison took bronze at 21.55.
Men ages 61-70 saw Phil Clum capture gold at 25.24 and John Byrnes take silver at 26.58.
Men’s 71+ division also had Pagosans in the top three spots. Klaus Neubert took gold at 24.93, Dick Bond took silver at 29.23 and Peter Locke took bronze at 37.40.
