Saturday, June 20, is the date set for the Pagosa Springs Endurance Horse Ride hosted by GECKO (Giving Every Child Knowledge of the Outdoors) as a fundraiser. GECKO Race Director Mike Le Roux is staging the inaugural horse race as an extension of GECKO summer racing.

“The AERC (American Endurance Ride Conference) has sanctioned races all over North America. However, the chapter that southwest Colorado belongs to, called ‘Mountain Region,’ has very little racing close to home. In fact, Utah and Arizona have the closest races, and this is still a 8-to-10 hour drive with a horse trailer. GECKO is an experienced race management organization and with my background in endurance horse racing, I was excited at the opportunity to host a local ride,” said Le Roux.
