Pagosa Springs Quad Challenge this Sunday

By James Dickhoff
Special to The SUN

Join members of the Pagosa Nordic Club this Sunday, March 3, for the second annual Pagosa Springs Quad Challenge.

This year’s Quad Challenge includes a 5km classic cross country ski or 10km skate ski, 3km road run, 22km road bike and a 1/2km swim.

Registration is $40 per person for solo racers or for each team member up to four.

Participants are asked to park in the Dr. Mary Fisher Park on San Juan Street across from the Healing Waters Spa, and to meet at the Chamber of Commerce for registration at 7 a.m., racer orientation at 7:45 and shuttle transportation at 8 in preparation for a 9 a.m. start. Please be early to allow for registration and to organize your gear.

The 5 and 10km cross country ski starts at 9 a.m. at the West Fork Nordic Trail. Runners then start from the West Fork trail and head to Treasure Falls, where they turn around and run west to the chain station on the shoulder of U.S. 160 to finish a 3km run. Bicyclists then road bike 22km back to town for the 1/2km swim in The Springs Resort pool.

Challenge yourself and your friends to participate in the Pagosa Springs Quad Challenge.

Course monitors are still needed, so contact us if you are interested in volunteering some time on the course. This is a great time for all.

An awards ceremony will be held after the event.

Information is available at PagosaNordic.Com, or contact the Pagosa Nordic Club at PagosaNordic@Gmail.com.
