Pagosa Springs Photography Club to meet Oct. 9

By Steven Merchant
Special to The PREVIEW

The Pagosa Springs Photography Club will hold its regular monthly meeting Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Shy Rabbit Contemporary Arts, 333 Bastille Drive.

Join us for socializing at 6 p.m., followed by the program and business meeting at 6:30.

Photography enthusiasts at all levels of ability are invited to attend Club meetings at no charge for the first meeting. If interested, you are invited to join for annual dues of $20 for individuals, $30 for  families membership, and $10 for a students.

The Photography Club meets the second Wednesday of each month,  September through May,  at Shy Rabbit Contemporary Arts.

At this meeting, we will be having an “Old Photograph” category photo exhibit. Members are invited to bring 24 digital images representative of the “oldest” photographs in their collection. “Oldest” is a relative term, since some may have only been taking photos for a few years. Images should be on a flash drive so they can be projected on a screen for all to view and comment on.

Club members are reminded of the 10th annual Photography Club Juried Print Exhibit, to be shown in the Pagosa Photography Studio and Gallery, across from the courthouse, from Nov. 21 through Dec. 26. Matted prints (unframed) must be delivered to the Pagosa Photography Studio and Gallery on Oct. 17 and 18 for judging. The cost for each entry is $5, up to five images maximum. The maximum size, framed width, is 26 inches. There are no categories or content guidelines. Images will be judged solely on displayed merits.

Club membership is required to enter, but interested photographers may join the club for the annual dues mentioned above, prior to or coincident with submission of prints for judging.

Selected prints will be announced Oct. 23 and must then be ready for display, framed, not later than Nov. 20.

For more information concerning the exhibit, contact Al Olson, 731-9801; TJ Reynolds, 731-9581; or Jeff Laydon, 264-3686.
