Immaculate Heart of Mary and Pope John Paul II Catholic Church are registering students in grades kindergarten through 12th for youth programs.

Father Kenny Udumka will be meeting with parents Sunday, Aug. 30, at 10 a.m. at the IHM Parish Hall on Lewis Street. All parents are asked to attend this special meeting and to register their children.

“Young people are the face of the church’s future,” Pope Francis said.

“We have a fabulous youth program planned for this year,” said Anne McGarry, the new religious education and youth ministry coordinator.

Scripture-based materials with a hands-on approach have been ordered for kindergarten through fifth grades. Religious education classes are for grades kindergarten through fourth. Each grade level will include a teacher and an aide on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. at the Parish Hall on Lewis Street. Fifth-graders will meet after school until 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and be provided a snack at the Parish Hall.

The Edge Program is being brought back for the sixth, seventh and eight grades, which will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoons at the Parish Hall. Meals will be served. Monica Archuleta will be the facilitator and parishioner and non-parishioner youth are welcome. Students must register before attending.

Doug Purcell and Jerry Archuleta are teaming up once again for Confirmation I and II, meeting one Sunday a month beginning in November in the JP II Narthex.
