Old station

Dear Editor:

This letter is in direct response to Jeff Greer’s commentary on the Conoco gas station on the east end of town. We have recently purchased the Conoco station and are attempting to get it operating. We currently manage the Everyday Store across the street. There is nothing we would like more than to create an inviting gas station for people entering our community, not to speak of our loyal customer base. This gas station has been mired in issues for a long time. The State of Colorado, as well as the town building department, has put us on hold until all issues are resolved. We have attempted to hire local contractors to remediate the damage. Most contractors in this business are either overwhelmed with work or show no interest in working on such a small assignment. We are now in the process of hiring a Pueblo, Colo., firm to do the remediation. We profoundly apologize for the delay and the visual challenge caused by the current status of the rehabilitation.
