National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week activities planned

When you hear the word grace, what comes to mind? Joseph Cooke wrote, “Grace is nothing more nor less than the face that love wears when it meets imperfection, weakness …”
We at Justice Ministries would like to add “when we meet those who have lost of a job, are caught up in the vicious cycle of substance abuse and alcoholism, experienced jail, eviction, family problems, mental health disorders, personal health issues, surgery, domestic abuse (all genders and ages), personal health disturbances, lack of affordable housing, foreclosure, trauma and poverty.”
National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is Nov. 10-18. Justice Ministries of Pagosa will be sponsoring and assisting with events and activities every day with a community potluck to kick off the week on Nov. 10. A Hike to End Hunger and Homelessness will be on Nov. 11. A winter socks drive will be held on Nov. 12. There will be a hot springs special on Nov. 13. There will be a tiny home display on Nov. 14. The Loaves and Fishes luncheon will be on Nov. 15. There will be a Food Truck Food Drive on Nov. 16 and LPEA’s “Fill the Bucket” food drive on Nov. 17.
We are looking for community participation and donations toward any of these activities and will gladly add other ideas to the week’s events. Please call 264-4483 or email us at for ways you can help.
