Mountain High Garden Club to hear about local shrubs and trees

By Alice Keil
Special to The PREVIEW
In September, the Mountain High Garden Club will host a presentation on “Local Shrubs and Trees” given by Roberta Tolan.
Tolan is the former director of the Archuleta County Extension office and has extensive knowledge of the plants that grow well in our climate and how to care for them.
This will take place on Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Fairgrounds/Extension office, located on U.S. 84.
The Mountain High Gardeners meet at 10 a.m. on the third Wednesday of every month between March and October.
The president of the Mountain High Gardeners, Jean Strahlendorf, would like for members also to be thinking ahead to the Oct. 18 meeting, after which will be the annual meeting of the board of directors.
The board will be discussing the events, topics, schedule and slate of officers for 2018. This is an opportunity to volunteer to serve as a facilitator for events and meetings and/or provide suggestions for events and presentation topics. It is a great opportunity to be involved in the activities of your club. Members, please plan on attending and giving your input.
