Medical center works to implement health records system

Staff Writer

As the new year begins, staff at the Pagosa Springs Medical Center (PSMC) continue to work to install and utilize an electronic health records (EHR) system. Once installed, a single system will serve both clinic and hospital patients, increasing efficient information transfer between these two parts of the medical center and among staff responsible for patient care. Currently, the clinic at PSMC utilizes an EHR system called e-Clinical, while the hospital does not utilize an EHR system.

The new system will be implemented in the hospital and clinic at the same time. The go-live date is scheduled for Feb. 15, at which point staff and providers will use electronic records while caring for clinic and hospital patients — additional EHR services and capabilities are to follow.
