“One Nation-Many Peoples: A Celebration of Diversity,” is the theme of the annual Pagosa Springs Rotary Fourth of July Parade.

The parade will be held Thursday, July 4, at 10 a.m. Applications, maps and general information are now available at the Chamber of Commerce or may be downloaded directly from the Pagosa Springs SUN website,

The parade committee is encouraging all entries to decorate their floats using the theme and appropriate Independence Day decor. So, get those wheels turning to come up with the best parade entry that depicts what “One Nation-Many Peoples: A Celebration of Diversity” means to you.

Think of all the different cultures and races that can be celebrated. The melting pot in our community alone has cowboys, veterans, Hispanics, loggers, Native Americans, artists and musicians. With this being the birthday of our great country, let’s demonstrate how proud we are to be who we are.

Cash awards will be given to the first three winners in each of the four categories.

As in years past, no items or candy are to be thrown from the entries. Those walking alongside the entry may hand items out only after the entry has passed the clock tower. If candy is important to you, get your viewing spot past the clock tower on the parade route. The Town of Pagosa Springs Police Department and the Pagosa Springs Rotary enforce this for safety reasons, as they want to ensure a good time for all.

So, Pagosa, put on your creative thinking caps and get your applications turned into the Chamber of Commerce no later than June 28. After that date, participants can  enter at the registration booth on the day of the parade, but will be placed at the end of the parade.

Be a part of one of Pagosa’s most celebrated and enjoyed events of the year.
