Psalm 23:2 — “He makes me to lie down in green pastures: he leads me beside the still waters.”
John 4:10 — “Jesus answered and said unto her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that says to you, Give me to drink; you would have asked of him, and he would have given you living water.”
John 7:38 — “He that believes on me, as the scripture have said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”
This fall, we had the opportunity to take several ATV rides, hikes and road trips near our home in Pagosa Springs.
We enjoyed the leaves changing colors and falling from the trees, the open meadows where deer and elk were grazing, and the mountain peaks covered with a soft, white layer of snow.
But, I felt closest to God near the rivers and mountain streams. We watched the wildlife drink from the springs and were reminded that we drink from living waters that never run dry.
We stood in awe as we watched the rushing waterfalls flow from the mountaintops as they found their way to the river below and paused to reflect on how He has calmed the rough waters in our lives.
We sat on the riverbanks and listened to the water as it traveled over the rocks and through the crevices flowing peacefully throughout the forest, and felt His presence.
He is present when the waters are rushing around us and we feel as though we are drowning, and He is near in the quiet times when the waters are calm and all is well with our souls. He is the Good Shepherd and desires for us to eat in his green pastures, to lay down in his peaceful meadows and to drink from his living fountain.
As we are surrounded by His presence, we find strength for our bodies, rest for our souls and refreshing waters for our spirit.
I love you, but Jesus loves you more!
