The cast, crew, directors and musicians of the Pagosa Springs High School production of  “Little Mermaid” is on hiatus this week because of spring break, but will be back rehearsing next week in the final countdown to the show’s opening on April 30.

The Disney musical, a treat for all ages, will run through May 4, evenings at 7 p.m. at the high school auditorium.  Directed by Dale Johnson, with musical direction by Dan Burch, the production is also assisted by vocals coach and pianist Sally Neel, and vocals and acting coach Darcy DeGuise.

“Mermaid” provides opportunities for creative costuming, and we have been excited at the volunteer efforts of costume designer D’Ann Artis, whose daughter Shy is a cast member.  D’Ann has put together some beautiful creations to be seen “under the sea,” and has assembled a group of talented seamstresses to make it all happen.  The characters of Sebastian, Ariel, mermaids, King Triton and more will be wearing hand-crafted costumes thanks to our costume crew.

The cast of fifty includes Bethany Burnett in the title role of Ariel, plus  Regan Richardson, Daisy Jones, Sydney Mogensen, Hannah Hemenger, Cierra Caler, Jessica Tanner, Kendra Schlom, Billy Baughman, Taylor Heitz, Shy Artis, Faith Heitz, Tyler Harbur, Mia Jones, Courtney Bishop, Niki Taylor, Miah Pitcher, Stephanie Austin, Spence Scott, Maria Campuzano, Brandon Clark, Gul Palma, Kody McNutt, Brock Cordova, Eric Chavez, Trent Stevens, Arron Clark, Giangelo Garbiso, Austin Marchand, Rowan Taylor, Jacqueline Hampton, Brooke Kudelski, Jessey Hampton, Taylor Jones, Ayriana Rackham, Cierra Keating and Jacqueline Garcia.

Tickets are available at the Chamber or at the door.
