Special to The PREVIEW
Ladies, do you remember having the jitters about your prom night? Maybe you worried that your dress was too long, too short, too revealing or too conservative. Maybe you worried your date was too dorky, too short, too shy or too forward. Well, on Oct. 14, you can wind back the clock and enjoy prom night without the tummy butterflies and threat of acne.
Seeds of Learning will host A Little Black Dress Affair: Prom Night from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Ross Aragon Community Center. Just like your first prom, the room will be converted into a space much more beautiful than the gym where you play pickleball. The difference with this prom will be no boys to make you nervous and only your girlfriends to impress.
You will have more time this year to bid on creative silent auction masterpieces donated by your generous friends in the community. Individuals and groups of women alike have had a great time letting their imaginations run wild. Whether you want to encourage your grandkids to get outside, support your favorite sports team or just spend a day on yourself, we’ll have a creation for you to bid on.
You could purchase the winning drawing ticket for a beautiful handmade quilt or go home with gift certificates for a local shopping spree valued at $1,000. Chances are you didn’t have those opportunities at your first prom.
The best part of this prom is rather than just making a memory, you will actually help change the life of an at-risk child — a child that will attend her or his own prom, graduate from high school and go on to live a more productive adult life because of you. Outcomes from this evening will give “Prom Night” a whole new meaning.
Get your tickets or reserve a table today. Tickets are $55 and are available at Seeds of Learning, 575 S. 7th St., Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. These reserved seats are almost gone. Don’t miss this chance to relive a bit of your past and create a new future for a small child. For more information, call 264-5513.
