Liberty and freedom.
The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America ends with, “with liberty and justice for all.” Also, the Star Spangled Banner states, “The land of the free and the home of the brave.” Liberty is described as the act of being free from restrictions and controls. Likewise, freedom is defined as being free of restraints. As Americans, these conditions did not come without a price. To me, liberty and freedom is a cause or something that has to be preserved continually. There are leaders of nations around this world that would like to strip America of what we stand for. Remember 9/11? Sure you do. The attack on the World Trade Center brought America together as one race and one faith for a while, but quickly faded away like a vapor.
As a veteran of the Vietnam era, I proudly did my part to preserve liberty and freedom. But, it does not stop there. We have to act upon our rights and hold them dear for ourselves as well as future generations. Amendments 1 and 2 of the Constitution of this United States of America should be held high by every American, as well as practiced.
Patrick Henry said, “Give me liberty or give me death.” In the Bible, Job said, “Though God slay me, I will still put my trust in Him.” The apostle said, “To live is Christ and to die is gain.” All of these were committed to a cause, so should we. The roots of the American foundation run deep to find truth and is starving because they cannot find it. The tree of American liberty and freedom is painfully withering.
Liberalism is sweeping across this country with hurricane force. Liberal media, Denver Post (cancel your subscription) published a picture of the Speaker of the House kissing his partner. We should not stand for such. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton once opposed gay marriage and civil unions, but now supports such acts. Our president calls it civil rights. Our governor endorses it, as well. These people may say they are exercising their liberty and freedom. Come on! What kind of message are these so called “leaders” sending to the American people? This is an abomination to our creator. Are they saying that their parents had it all wrong? Where would they be if this were true? Lord help us!
To honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, we should be determined in our hearts to make a positive difference in our country. We should get off the couch of “complacency” and stand on the rock of “truth;” we should get our heads out of the cloud of “apathy” (or wherever it is); we should clean our ears of the mud of “propaganda” (also pods and etc.); we should clear the fog of “contentment” from our eyes; and also extract “stuff” that has been crammed down our throats so that we can speak what would be positive toward preserving our heritage.
If we all believe that one vote could make a difference, things in America could turn an about-face. Most of us would agree that we are disappointed of how things are going in our nation, state as well as locally. But, what are we doing to make things better? We sit idly by sucking on the pacifier of “sedentary” that lulls us to sleep, while our liberty and freedom erode from underneath our feet. Determine to make a difference — start today!
