Call to artists: Saturday, June 1, marks the final day to submit your entry into the SHY RABBIT Print International 4: An International Juried Exhibition.

The juror for this year’s exhibition is Michael Krueger, associate professor of art, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kans.

This prestigious fourth annual printmaking exhibition builds upon the success and notoriety of the SHY RABBIT Print National 1, 2009; the SHY RABBIT Print National 2, 2010; and the SHY RABBIT Print International 3, 2012, which was expanded to include submissions from international artists.

The SHY RABBIT Print International 4 juried exhibition is open to any national or international artist 18 years of age or older. Original contemporary works in traditional and nontraditional printmaking media including book arts, three-dimensional and mixed media prints are eligible. All submissions must have been completed within the last three years. Straight or purely digital prints and photography are not eligible.

The SHY RABBIT Print International 4 will run from July 27-Sept. 7, 2013.

Michael Krueger received his B.F.A. from the University of South Dakota in 1990, and his M.F.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 1993.

Krueger currently serves as an associate professor of art at the University of Kansas, where he has been teaching drawing and printmaking since 1995. He has conducted lectures and workshops at over 150 venues, including Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; Instituto Superior de Arte, Asunción, Paraguay; and Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI.

Krueger’s work has been widely exhibited in the U.S., Europe and Asia, and has been presented in several solo shows and more than 40 national and international group shows over the last decade, including exhibitions at Ambacher Contemporary, Munich, Germany; Glasgow Print Studio, Glasgow, Scotland; the International Print Center New York; Sears-Peyton Gallery, New York; Davidson Gallery, Seattle, Wash..

Krueger’s work is included in over 80 public collections including the New York Public Library; the Museo Del Barro, Asunción, Paraguay; Boston Museum of Fine Arts; City of Seattle; Fogg Museum, Harvard University; Museum of Art-Rhode Island School of Design and Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s estate in Charlottesville, Va.

SHY RABBIT strives to present ongoing exhibitions that invite curiosity and discussion; that keep artists involved and challenged; that create excitement and interest in the arts community and beyond; and that showcase contemporary fine art trends and ideas.

SHY RABBIT is currently open Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at no charge. Ample parking is available in front of the building. SHY RABBIT Contemporary Arts is located at 333 Bastille Drive, two blocks north of U.S. 160, off of North Pagosa Boulevard.

The 4,000 square-foot arts facility houses a ceramic studio and fine art gallery, two mixed-media workshops, and two large exhibition spaces.
