The Pagosa Springs High School Lady Pirates suffered their first and only loss of the season this evening (Saturday) during the state championship game, finishing the 2013-2014 season with a 25-1 record.
The Pirates faced the Holy Family Tigers from Broomfield in the game — a team that entered the game with five championships in six years — and fell prey to the Tigers 52-45.
The Pirates led for most of the game, but Holy Family tied the game 31-31 shortly before the end of the third quarter by scoring 16, including 10 free throws, and giving up only 8 to Pagosa.
Holy Family is set to move to 4A for the 2014-2015 season.
