Last weekend’s cancelled game between the Centauri Falcons and Pagosa Springs Lady Pirates has been rescheduled for Feb. 22.
The game was cancelled early Saturday afternoon due to inclement weather that prevented the Falcons from travelling to Pagosa, leaving the Pirates with a weekend free of competition.
The game is now scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 22, and will be the Pirates’ last regular-season game.
The Pirates have only two more weekends of conference action before playoffs, facing the Bayfield Wolverines and Alamosa Mean Moose at home this weekend, followed by an away game in Monte Vista and the home game against the Falcons the next weekend.
“We’ve got two big league games coming up this weekend,” coach Wes Lewis said, noting that his team is focused and ready with the season winding down.
First, on Friday, the Pirates welcome the Wolverines to Pagosa for a 5:30 p.m. match.
On Jan. 25, the Pirates defeated the Wolverines by a 42-34 margin in Bayfield.
Then, Saturday, the Pirates take on the Mean Moose, with action again beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Pagosa previously defeated the Mean Moose 49-32 on Feb. 1.
With no games last weekend, Pagosa remains in second place in the Intermountain League with a 3-1 conference record (13-2 overall) and a five-game win streak, trailing Centauri.
Centauri remains atop the league with a 5-0 conference record (15-1), defeating Alamosa on Feb. 8, to extend the Falcon win streak to 12.
Alamosa is next in the standings with a 3-3 record in the league (7-10 overall), followed by Bayfield at 2-3 (8-8 overall) and Monte Vista (0-6 in conference, 2-12 overall).
