Special to The PREVIEW
Thingamajig Theatre Company is proud to announce that actor Craig Dolezel has signed on to join the cast of “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” opening Nov. 30 and running through Dec. 23.
Dolezel, who was featured in Thingamajig’s recent production of “A Steady Rain,” joins a cast of local actors including Bob and Bonnie Hite (“Love Letters”), Laura Moore (“Sylvia”) and Mark Brown (“Escanaba in da Moonlight”).
“I’m thrilled to be a part of this show,” said Dolezel. “Every year, my family would take in the movie at Christmas together. The opportunity to work alongside Tim again, and meet the local performers; it’s something I’m really excited about.”
The cast features Dolezel as Jake Laurents who portrays George Bailey, Laura Moore as Sally Applewhite playing Mary Hatch, Bob Hite as Freddie Fillmore the play’s radio announcer, Bonnie Hite as Lana Sherwood, and Mark Brown as Harry “Jazzbo” Heywood. The production is directed by Tim Moore.
Adapted from the original film starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed, this beloved American holiday classic brings Bedford Falls to life as a 1940s radio broadcast. Five actors create more than 50 memorable characters to bring to life Frank Capra’s beloved film. This unique stage adaptation is performed as a radio play, broadcast on Christmas Eve in 1949. Everyman George Bailey gets the chance to see what the world would be like if he’d never been born.
“It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” is rated G and appropriate for audiences of all ages.
Showtimes and dates are Nov. 30-Dec. 23, Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
