Hot air balloons: ‘Soar on wings like eagles’

Lying on the ground, they don’t seem like much. As the air is released into the balloon, it slowly opens and rises into the air. Then you can see their magnificence.

All the balloons are made to the specification of each individual who owns them.

There is one deep-striped color balloon that reminds us of all the colors of the rainbow. “I have put my bow in the clouds.” There is one that has letters on it, saying WWJD, which stands for: “What Would Jesus Do.”

How much fun the people in the balloons are having on their adventure high, high in the air, not knowing where they will land when the fuel runs out. The unknown is captivating to the human soul as you imagine such an experience as this.

What a wonderful experience it must have been to ride with the wind, slowly moving high above the earth. I was envious of my friend as I saw her soaring like wings of eagles, up and up and away to far off places. Seeing the earth from above and feeling the wind in your face surely reminds us of the grandeur of God’s creation of the world.

This must have been what Isaiah meant when he said, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:33 NIV)
