Special to The PREVIEW
The Mountain View Homemakers Club will meet Thursday, June 12, at 11:30 a.m. in the Extension building at the fairgrounds. The first half-hour will be spent visiting and getting the food set up for lunch, which will begin promptly at noon. All area women are invited to come and visitors are not expected to bring a dish.
Occupational therapist and certified driving rehab specialist Karen Richardson will provide the program immediately following lunch. She will discuss safe driving skills, especially those we need to know, understand and use as we age.
The Mountain View Homemakers organization is a monthly gathering of women who are interested in making the lives of their families and their community more livable. The meetings include lunch and either enlightening speakers or a hands-on community project. One auction fundraiser every summer results in contributions to eight or nine local nonprofit efforts. And on the first Saturday of November, Mountain View Homemakers will sponsor the annual Holiday Bazaar at the community center.
There are no dues or membership requirements for the Mountain View Homemakers and every interested woman will be welcomed. The first time a woman comes to a meeting, she is a guest and is not expected to bring food for the covered dish lunch. The second time she attends, she is a member and may begin to contribute to the luncheon with something she has made or bought. However, no one should stay away just because they’ve not had time to make or buy a dish.
