Special to The PREVIEW
Members and guests of Mountain View Homemakers Club will gather at the Extension Building at the fairgrounds on Thursday, Jan. 10, at 11:30 a.m. to visit and set up the covered dish luncheon.
The meal will start at noon and be followed at about 12:30 p.m. by a 50-year retrospective of the club’s activities by long-time historian for the club, Shirley Snider.
Scrapbooks from the past will be on display, and those having special memories of long-ago meetings will have a chance to share them.
In September, we will have a special celebration of 50 years. Before and after that, almost all the programs during 2013, our 50th year, will be given by club members. A wide variety of subjects will include herbs, quilts, table settings and manners, making quick freezer jams and lots more. One meeting every year in July is an auction that raises money to distribute among eight or more local non-profits, and the Homemakers will, for the second year, produce the annual Holiday Bazaar on the first Saturday of November.
Mountain View Homemakers is a monthly gathering of women who are interested in making the lives of their families and their community more livable. There are no dues or membership requirements and every interested woman is welcomed. Visitors are not expected to bring a dish. Each meeting includes lunch and either enlightening speakers or a hands-on community project.
