His voice is echoed on the mountaintops

Genesis 3:8 “And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day.”

1Kings 19:12 “And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.”

Psalms 68:33 “To him that rides upon the heavens of heavens, which were of old; lo, he sends out his voice, and it is a mighty voice.”

Deuteronomy 30:20(a) “That you may love the LORD your God, and that you may obey his voice, and that you may stay close unto him: for he is your life, and the length of your days.”

John 10:4 “And when he puts forth his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.”

Adam and Eve were privileged to walk with God in the garden every day and listen to His voice of instruction and reason. They realized His great power as He shared with them the story of a long ago war where Satan and the fallen angels rebelled against God’s authority and were banished from heaven. The knowledge they acquired as the Creator explained the seven days of creation and the purpose for every living creature. The love they must have felt as He shared with them their creation. How He created them in His image and likeness and breathed into them the breath of life. We can only imagine a relationship free from sin, sorrow or fear; filled with love, joy and peace.

Through Jesus Christ we have been given the same opportunity. We heard His voice as our Savior when He spoke to us through the wooing of His Holy Spirit and called us to repentance and a life in Him. Because of Christ we have access to the throne of God. Where Jesus sits at His Father’s right hand speaking on our behalf as Counselor and Prince of Peace. It is there in His presence we discover who He is. We acknowledge His sovereignty and experience His love and protection.

He is the Good Shepherd and we are His sheep. We hear His voice and we follow His instructions. We hear Him in the early hours of the morning, when all is still and He speaks to us in His still small voice. His voice brings comfort and clarity to our lives. It is a light in the darkness and a lamp unto our feet. He speaks to us in power and authority and warns us of danger. He charges His angels to watch over us and protect us from harm. He lifts us up when we stumble. He carries us when we are hurt. He leads us to shelter from the storm.

His voice is echoed on the mountaintops where He speaks into our lives His plan and purpose. We hear His voice in the valleys as He encourages us to keep pressing forward. Regardless of where life may take us, He is always there to love, protect and encourage us. And, when this life is over, we will stand before our King and hear Him say, “well done good and faithful servant enter into your rest.” Then, we will sit down at His feet and He will teach us all things. I love you but Jesus loves you more.
