Special to The PREVIEW
Since early September, a dedicated and ambitious group of drama students at Pagosa Springs High School has been working every night on a production of “Little Women.”
The production’s opening night, set for Thursday, Nov. 21, at 6:30 p.m., is timed to kick off the holiday season with this classic story of love, family and sacrifice.
For those unfamiliar with “Little Women,” this is a story closely paralleling the author’s life, set during the Civil War. Along with a charming and romantic storyline, “Little Women” chronicles the lives of a family at home during war. For those who are familiar with the story, there are enough surprises mixed with your favorite parts to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Actors and actresses in the production are Johanna Laverty, Teeka Murphy, Hannah Hemenger, Aryanna Rackham, Shannel Wilson, Jessey Hampton, Tyler Ybarra, Jasper Youn t and Trent Stephens.
When asked about this year’s cast, director Sean Downing said, “This is an interesting group of actors, and this script is a real challenge, but I watched them become a unified group, a family, which is what the story is about, and what theatre is about, overall. I’m really proud of the work they’ve done — it really has become all their own.”
