Grow up

Dear Editor:

OK, short and sweet. To those miscreants in Aspen Springs who are using East Stollsteimer Road as their personal garbage dump, I’ve got exciting news for you. First, you are obviously not an American patriot since you are trashing our land, so how about moving to somewhere they like this sort of thing so you’ll fit right in. Second, I want to thank you for not having the mental capacity to remove your fingerprints from the various and sundry pieces I’ve “carefully” collected the last six or so months, especially the beer cans. There are about 50 (suggesting underage drinkers eliminating the evidence before they go home, not to mention the ones providing them with the beer). There’s also a microwave oven which I’m sure has some nice fingerprint evidence available. You see, there is a $500 fine for littering in Colorado, for each offense, and video makes for good evidence to prove this was done several dozen times. Yes, it might cost a little to pull the prints, but reimbursement from your fines should be forthcoming. In the meantime, you might begin to think a bit about not polluting our beautiful Colorado, and perhaps begin collecting all that aluminum and other scrap to help pay your fines. There’s still a lot of trash right where you dumped it. And … please grow up.

Spot on, Jeff. I sometimes take Stollsteimer home when I feel like a change of scenery, and the beer cans and litter are gruesome.
Respect the land, people! If everyone lived like these litterers, we’d all be living in a dump.
