Special to The SUN
Veterans for Veterans is hosting its golf tournament this Saturday, May 17, at the Pagosa Springs Golf Club.
We still have slots available, so get your teams together and enter. There will be some great prizes, food, lots of fun and you will be helping local veterans. Contact Kenny Rogers at 731-8339 or (303) 902-5340 (cell) to sign up or for additional information.
The event will begin Saturday, May 17, with players arriving at 9 a.m. for cart and tee box assignments. Play will begin at 10 a.m. in a shotgun start; format will be best ball scramble. Mulligans will be available for purchase before the 10 a.m. tee-off time, but will be limited to two mulligans per player. Mulligan tickets will also be the tickets for our numerous door prizes. The drawing will be held after play has been completed. The top three teams at the end of play will be awarded cash prizes, plus there will be prizes for the longest drive for both men and women contestants.
We have arranged for five hole-in-one prizes on the four par-3 holes on the selected courses (Meadows and Pinon) that all golfers will be eligible to compete for (no mulligans can be used for the hole-in-one attempts). The five prizes are: a 2014 Ford Fusion; three nights/two rounds, stay-and-play vacation to TPC Sawgrass at Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; a luxurious four-day/three-night golf vacation to French Lick Resort in French Lick, Ind.; a Travis Mathew signature golf outfit, plus a $500 online shopping spree; and a Harley Davidson motorcycle. The car and motorcycle prizes will be on Pinon No. 8 hole.
If you would like to enter a four-player team or play as an individual, please contact Kenny Rogers at 731-8339 or (303) 902-5340 (cell), or obtain a signup sheet at the Pagosa Springs Golf Club. Please make all checks payable to “Veterans for Veterans.”
We would like to thank all the generous sponsors from Pagosa Springs and the surrounding area for their overwhelming support. Without them, we could not provide this fundraising event to help the many veterans within our county and the Four Corners area.
Veterans for Veterans is a local nonprofit volunteer organization located in Archuleta County. It is dedicated to helping veterans residing in the southwest Colorado and northern New Mexico area. It is only through the generosity of our compassionate donors that the Veterans for Veterans organization can offer its support to the veterans and their families here in the Four Corners area in times of great stress.
Services provided by Veterans for Veterans include but are not limited to the following: financial assistance, help during a move, transportation to medical appointments, help paying bills, help filing VA claims and dealing with the VA, help finding housing/household items, computer/technical assistance, help during emotional distress, visiting shut-ins/nursing home vets and much more.
