Good Samaritans

Dear Editor:

I am writing to thank some “Good Samaritans” that helped me downtown a couple of weeks ago. I was downtown shopping and became disoriented while looking for my car. My dog and I circled the block several times before I spotted it.

We were both exhausted and upset by the time we got to the car, and I set my packages, including my wallet, down on a nearby bench while I unlocked the car and loaded the dog.

Then I got in the car and drove home, forgetting about the things I had left on the bench. When I got home I had a call from Linda, an employee of the Pagosa Bar, who said she had all of the things I had left on the bench.

Apparently, two gentlemen who were customers of the bar at the time, noticed me circling the block looking upset and they came out to see if they could help and saw me drive away without my packages. They gathered everything up and took it into the bar and gave it to Linda. Everything was just as I had left it, including my cash, credit cards, drivers license, etc.

I happen to think that while this might be an exceptional occurrence in other places, it is not so here. The people in this town are truly wonderful and make it a pleasure to live here. So to Linda and the two gentlemen whose names I do not know, thank you from the bottom of my heart. It is folks like you that make Pagosa such a great place.
