God’s law

Dear Editor:

President Obama is nullifying the Constitution’s guarantee of freedom of religion (first Amendment) through Obamacare and other measures and by ignoring its mandate that it is the responsibility of government to “secure this right.”

Similarly, now the United Nations is usurping the role of Churches to regulate morality. The U.N.’s Committee on the Rights of the Child has the temerity to tell the Church to get over its opposition to unmarried teen sex, contraception, and abortion.

The Committee says that children have a right to have sex, to use condoms, and get abortions, and that the Church’s opposition is a violation of human rights. It also claims that Church teaching on homosexuality has caused violence against the same sex attractive. Furthermore, the committee tells the Church that not to kill babies is a violation since it is a human right to kill them.

The Church issued a Press Release stating, among other things, that “the U.N. cannot interfere with Catholic Doctrine on human dignity or the Church’s exercise of religious freedom.” Nor can it replace parental rights and responsibilities to teach and raise children within the parameters of moral law and not secular immorality.

Isn’t it ironic that the U.N., which monitors human rights violations by nations, classifies these immoral actions as human rights and not violations? How does the U.N. claim the right to countermand God’s laws and the Church’s obligation to teach them? How does it encourage homosexuality when God ruled that those who engage in it should be “put to death” (Lev. 18 and 20) and “will not enter the kingdom of heaven” (Rom. 1:24-27 and I Cor. 6:9-10 and 13)? How can it promote abortions (the murder of the unborn) when God said “before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I consecrated you” (Jer. 1:5 and Ps. 139:13)? What right does it have to advocate killing what God has created and consecrated? These sins “provoke God’s wrath” (Col. 3:6).

Austin Ruse, President of C-FAM (Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute), urges all people who value moral principles and oppose the U.N. to join hundreds of thousands by signing the petition at www.defendtheholysee.org “to protest the U.N. reengineering humanity and revising basic moral understanding.” The entire petition is found at this website. The Holy See is the voice of the voiceless at the U.N. All names will be combined with other pro-life groups and presented at U.N. headquarters in New York and Geneva. It is inconceivable what this world would be like if the U.N. gets its way because of the inaction of people who respect and follow God’s law.

Finally, all are urged to pray to God to reverse these horrible, immoral practices in our Country and throughout the world.
