Give a Gift of the Heart this year

Special to The PREVIEW

At this time of Christmas cheer and thanksgiving, there is a special gift that stays here in Pagosa Springs.  It’s a locally handmade Christmas card called “Gifts of the Heart.”

Many times we may not know what to give someone during the holiday season, how much to spend,  or  a way to say how much we care for a friend, neighbor, child, classmate, teacher, parent or co-worker — the list goes on and on.

For a minimum donation of $5, you can purchase a handmade greeting card.  Inside each card is a message stating that the donation has been made to one of several local non-profit charities in honor of or in memory of an individual.  Your special gift for Christmas is beautifully designed and meaningful.

The groups receiving support from the sale of these locally designed cards are the Community Assistance Fund and Food Pantry sponsored by the Methodist Church, the Pagosa Springs Youth Center, and the After School Tutoring Program at the Archuleta County Education Center.

These special Gift of the Heart cards can be purchased Monday through Thursday from Cory at the Community United Methodist Church office on Lewis Street.  Checks or cash are accepted.

Every cent raised from the sale of these cards goes directly to the group you select.  The impact goes far beyond just making the person you give the card to very happy — you are able to truly help those in need in our community by reaching out to others in a special way through your generosity.

Your Gift of the Heart can have a huge impact in our community. Please give.
