GECKO to host fun run/walk on Dec. 7

By Kirsten LeRoux
Special to The SUN

GECKO will host “Sweaty Santa,” a noncompetitive, fun run/walk — a 3k and 5k run/jog/walk (or snowshoe), at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.

This family event, for all ages and abilities, will start and finish at the Ross Aragon Community Center. Get some fresh air on this downtown route that will be held snow or shine (bring your snowshoes if you need to).

Entry fee is $15 for the 5k and $12 for the 3k for adults. Kids 10 and under participate free. Registration is on the day only, beginning at 9 a.m.

Baby joggers, strollers, scooter and dogs on leashes are allowed if you’re walking.

Famous GECKO Christmas “ornament” medals made by the Pagosa Springs Elementary School art class will be awarded to all finishers.

Toast yourself with delicious hot chocolate and marshmallows when you’re finished, and have your photo taken with Santa.

Prizes will be given out for the best dressed “Christmas Cheer” group and participant.

This is a chance to get outdoors for a great cause — this is a GECKO event.
