Fun Day Rodeos are open to any and all youngsters and will be held at the Archuleta County Fairgrounds June 28, 29 and July 26, 27. Spectators can witness all manner of competition from barrel racing to goat tying, free of charge.

The Fun Day Rodeo series is one of Pagosa’s favorite summer pastimes — offering the perfect opportunity for cowboys and cowgirls of all ages to show off their skills.

The rodeo is open to any and all youngsters in a variety of age categories: 5 years of age or younger; 6 to 8 years old; 9 to 11 years old; 12 to 14 years old; and 15 and up.

Fun Day Rodeo events range from barrel racing, pole bending and flag racing, to goat tying, goat tagging and other roping events. And everyone is invited to come cheer the competitors on, free of charge.

This year’s series of rodeos will be held June 28, 29 and July 26, 27 at the Archuleta County Fairgrounds, just off of U.S. 84. Rodeos begin at 10 a.m., with entry at 9 a.m.

Cost of participation is $5 for an individual event and $15 for up to five events during the day. Prizes will be awarded for competition in each age group at the end of the rodeo series; participants must compete in three of the four rodeos to be eligible for prizes.
