Special to The PREVIEW
On Nov. 7, the Americana Project will be holding a free community concert to celebrate the talent and dedication of the current students. They will present a mix of original music, covers and collaborations. Americana Project has a wonderful mix of talent this year and can’t wait to share what they have to offer.
The Americana Project is a class offered at Pagosa Springs High School where students can work at bringing their individual talents toward a shared love. The class focuses on songwriting and technique used in Americana roots music while also allowing students to put their own twists on the music. This concert will provide a chance for the students to show what they’ve learned or have been working on since the beginning of the year while also letting them learn some of the ins and outs of the music industry.
One student in the class explained their enthusiasm for the upcoming concert by saying, “It’s exciting to have the opportunity to present to a larger audience, because although our lunch time and smaller class performances are fun, this offers a much more real experience. Especially for those in the class that think they want to pursue music in the future, as well as just being able to hear all our hard work getting enjoyed by more of Pagosa.”
It is a common goal that the students work to support each other as they develop individual talents associated with music writing, singing and playing instruments. The students enthusiastically hope to share their voice and talent with the Pagosa Springs audience. The evening of Nov. 7 is guaranteed to be uplifting, entertaining and filled with laughter. The show starts at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Please join The Americana Project as we celebrate our common love for music.
Also, please save the date of Dec. 4 for the Americana Project Special Guest Concert. This concert will feature the homegrown talent of Elder Grown, which includes the Hoffman brothers and former Americana Project alumni Brandon Clark. The show will start 7 p.m. with students from the Americana Project opening the show. Tickets are $10.
