Forest monitoring opportunities

Join the San Juan Headwaters Forest Health Partnership and Mountain Studies Institute in their citizen science series that offers opportunities for you to participate in educational outdoor activities that will increase your understanding of what’s happening in your local forests.

We will meet at 7 a.m. at the Ruby M. Sisson Memorial Library, located at 811 S. 8th downtown Pagosa Springs. The day will begin with a Birds of the Forest Tour with local representatives from the Weminuche Audubon Society. We will then offer trainings and opportunities for you to engage hands-on in forest health science.

We will also be featuring a regional expert who will talk about how insects and invasive plants influence forest health, wildfire risk and other concerns related to the longevity of our beautiful forestlands.

Please contact Noah Chutz at or call 387-5161 with any questions and to sign up.
