Fix the problem

Dear Editor:

I would like to decry the local Post Office attempt to pinch pennies at the cost of safety for the elderly and disabled.

As you may be aware, the power-assisted main doors have been disconnected instead of repaired or replaced and are now manual. These doors weighing at least 200 pounds were meant to be assisted for a reason. They are too heavy for older or weaker people, and completely non-wheelchair accessible. The postal service probably gets around the issue because the back doors still work. Some people can’t walk that far. This problem needs to be resolved. I have seen older ladies need help to open the doors. I am an MS sufferer but am still able to help someone on my good days. On my bad days its hard for me and I’m a big guy. I’m sure many people would agree with me. USPS let’s fix the problem.
