Fire support

Dear Editor:

I would like to offer heartfelt thanks to the Archuleta County Airport at Stevens Field and The Pagosa Springs SUN Newspaper for both being such an important part of our community.

As I watched the helicopters come and go from the airport, some with lines and buckets and some not, and fixed wing aircraft, which were definitely fire related, I gave thanks that we have an airport in our community that is there for us in times of not only medical emergency need, but disaster relief as well. Thank you, Kate Alfred and crew for keeping our airport an important part of Archuleta County.

I would also like to praise The Pagosa Springs SUN for keeping the community up to speed on the wildfires. The online reporting was timely and, quite simply, excellent. Our little hometown newspaper is such an important part of our community, and the online updates were a tremendous help not only to us here in town, but also to our friends who had to evacuate their home in South Fork. They are now forever friends on Facebook with our newspaper. Thank you, Terri House and Karl Isberg, and all at The Pagosa Springs SUN, for keeping the community informed.
