Special to The PREVIEW

Young artists will learn to create art through a variety of techniques, materials and cultures at Hands-On Art Camp, taught by certified art educators Lisa Brown and Tessie Garcia.

Highlights for the week of June 10 are Chinese dragons, Native American shields, clay projects and fiber arts. Students showcase their week’s creations in an art show setting at the end of the week.

There are four different sessions, held Monday through Thursday, on the weeks of June 10, 17 and 24, and July 8, from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Pagosa Springs Elementary School.

Tuition is $120 per week. Family deal: first child is full price; each child after is $20 dollars off. Sign up for three weeks and get half off the fourth week. These fees include instruction and materials. Daily drop off rate is $35.

Class limit is 20 students per week for students entering first grade next year up to kids in sixth grade.

Registration forms are found on the web page,

Also, Hands-On Arts Camp needs community members to sponsor a child. Receive a fused glass pendent or a pottery mug from the art teachers. If you would like to help make a child’s art dreams come true, contact Tessie at 769-4212.

Non-Profit sponsorship of Hands On Art Camp is by FolkWest, Gecko and Pagosa Springs Elementary School.
