Special to The PREVIEW
The Nurturing Center at 802 Rosita St. is offering fun and educational groups for parents, children and teens.
Our Crianza Con Carino group (Spanish speaking parents) began Sept. 17 and our Nurturing Parents group and Nurturing Teens group begins on Sept. 24.
The Nurturing Parenting Programs are designed for participants of all ages. It is an internationally known, evidenced-based program designed to encourage healthy families and reduce violence.
The free group sessions are open to all parents and caregivers interested in learning what it means to be a nurturing parent.
Lessons include topics such as coping with stress and anger, building self worth in children, communicating with respect, and creating family morals and rules. The entire family is welcome and youth follow a curriculum appropriate for their age level.
The Nurturing Teens group follows the Nurturing curriculum along with See It Stop It Youth as Leaders, with the goal of recognizing violence in their lives and discovering tools to help their peers and their community.
The Nurturing Center provides a free nutritious meal and fun family activities. The meal begins at 5 p.m. with group sessions starting at 6 and ending at 8. There is time to change into pajamas and do homework if needed.
We welcome all types of families, especially co-parenting families, to this time for healing and working together in a positive nurturing way that puts the children first.
Space is limited; these groups are free, with a small donation asked for books, but no family will be turned away.
