This celebration of Pagosa’s Hispanic heritage and love of the green chile is a cultural and culinary treat for locals and visitors alike.
Festivities get underway with a trail race and fun run at 8 a.m. on a 3-, 7- or 15-mile course that travels over Reservoir Hill and adjacent scenic property right downtown. The green chile cook-off and tasting begins at 12:30 p.m., offering participants the opportunity to sample dozens of delicious homemade green chiles, many made with recipes passed down through generations of local residents.
There will be a beer garden, plus food and merchandise booths featuring locally made products and fresh roasted green chile on site all day, along with fun activities for the kids. From 2-6 p.m., enjoy live dance music from two bands, to be announced. Winners of the green chile cook-off will be announced between bands.
