Car Show
Beginning Friday evening at 5 p.m. in Town Park will be car registration, a barbecue and a concert. On Saturday more cars arrive as Lewis Street hosts the Show and Shine, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be classic cars and more “modern” classics lining the street and vying for various awards. Registration forms are available online at www.pagosaspringschamber.com or at the Chamber offices.
Adventure
Alaskan mountain guide and Colorado pastor Jim Hale will be signing copies of his book “An Alaskan Life of High Adventure” from 2-4 p.m. at Higher Grounds Coffee Shop. Through earthquakes, avalanches and bush plane crashes the book details the life of a mountain guide and explorer in one of the nations most remote regions.

Night at the movies
Liberty Theatre. A special screening of foreign languages movies at the Liberty Theater. “The Intouchables,” (France 2011) at 6 p.m. and “North Face,” (Germany 2008) at 8 p.m. $10 one movie, $15 two movies. Movies in original version with English subtitles. All proceeds go to Pagosa Fire Protection District Auxiliary.

Denali Hang Gliding Expedition
6-7:15 p.m. at Ruby Sisson Library. Come see a slide show and hear about a hang gliding expedition from North America’s highest mountain, Denali, from the expedition’s co-leader and author of An Alaskan Life of High Adventure, Jim Hale. See pictures and ask questions about other Alaskan adventures. Copies of the book will be available for purchase, and can be signed by the author. Ready for Work course
Pagosa Springs Youth Center is holding a six-week starter course for 13-16 year-olds on how to prepare to go to work. This class will be offered on Thursdays after school at 4 p.m. at the Youth Center, with some classes meeting off site. There is no cost and a snack will be provided.
