Dear Editor:

Let’s take a close look at what we have allowed to happen to us over the last few decades. We’ve accepted 60 million laws to regulate our lives. We’ve allowed police and sheriff forces to grow to think they are the masters (in most cases) and we, the people, are the mere mortal servants. Many of these forces, be they “law” enforcement, or any given government, federal, state or local, are working from one simple foundation: “Might makes right!” In other words, this means these people are “living by the sword.” Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has purchased 1.6-plus billion rounds of ammo, the majority of which is illegal-for-war hollow point ammo. Enough for a 25-year war. It has also purchased 2,700-plus armored vehicles and 7,000 automatic weapons which it calls “Personal Defense Weapons.” Of course, our weapons (semi-automatic) are called “assault weapons.” DHS is a domestic organization and does not engage in warfare internationally, so why is it arming not only itself, but many of our local police and sheriffs departments with these types of equipment and supplies? There is only one answer — they are preparing for war with the American people. Congress is now looking into these highly suspect purchases, but can we expect anything from them in protecting our rights and liberties? For now, we best be looking to each other, and preparing in every way logical and reasonable. All this is no longer hypothetical. We have become the enemy of those who live by the sword, and we are taught that those who live by the sword shall die by the sword. I’d say that is their choice, not ours. I pray they are listening.
