‘Elf,’ from the North Pole to the local stage

By Dale Johnson
Special to The PREVIEW
The story begins at the North Pole as Santa and his elves are busy getting ready for the holiday season.
The classic and popular “Elf the Musical” puts music and dance to the well-known movie watched around the world. It is discovered that Buddy the Elf is actually a human boy, taken in by Santa and raised by elves after being found in his toy sack many years ago.
Adrian Roque stars in the lead role of Walter, Buddy’s human father who lives in New York City and works in the Empire State Building. Roque, a naturally gifted and talented actor, brings forth the many levels of personality of Walter as he adjusts to learning he has a son named Buddy from the North Pole.
“Elf” will run for four performances only, produced by Curtains Up Pagosa, Pagosa’s premier nonprofit community theater organization.
The organization’s proceeds go to support the performing arts in our schools and community.
“Elf” opens on Nov. 16 and runs evenings, with a matinee only on Nov. 19. See curtainsuppagosa.org and on Facebook for more information.
